ESI Funds to Support Eastern Slavonia Transportation Development Master Plan

On 14 March 2017, Sea Transport, and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic (HDZ), the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (SAFU) Director Tomislav Petric, and Virovitica-Podravina County Prefect Sonja Bosnjak signed a contract to finance the development of the transportation master plan for Eastern Croatia through EU funds. The Virovitica-Podravina County is the beneficiary of the project, which is valued at €916,876. Besides the Virovitica-Podravina County, other project partners include:  the Osijek-Baranja, Pozega-Slavonia, Vukovar-Srijem and Brod-Posavina counties. The master plan, which is essentially a transport development strategy, will provide the strategic framework for financing the future projects, aimed at developing public, urban, suburban, and regional mobility, and will help to identify problems in these areas and provide measures for their resolution. Minister Butkovic also announced signing similar agreements for other regions: the North Adriatic, North Dalmatia, and Central Dalmatia, whose total value is estimated at more than €2.5 million, and funding will also be provided through EU funding. Butkovic also emphasized that, under the Operational programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion”, Croatia will have €1.2 billion allocated from EU funds for the financing of transport and mobility projects…
